19 years ago 306 WW1 soldiers who were executed for desertion and cowardice were pardoned after a long campaign by relatives and politicians.
My relative William Wilfred 'Ted' Roberts was one of those men.
For the last year I have been writing his story and following in the footsteps of my grandmother who tried to find out more in the 1980's. At the time all of the documents were embargoed and she later did a BBC interview covering the story which helped her get early access to the information.
I plan to publish the book next year to tell Ted's Story, the story of the family secret and story of the campaigns that eventually granted them all a pardon.
Please do share with anyone you know interested in WW1 history
