Book Launches at MK Lit Fest
It’s been quite a week for Ted’s story.
After years of research, writing and piecing together the truth about my great-great-uncle Ted Roberts, my book is finally out in the world. And this weekend I’ll be officially launching it at Milton Keynes Literature Festival.
From Shame to Honour: Uncovering the Hidden Story of Ted Roberts tells the story of my great great uncle who was a First World War soldier who was executed for desertion in May 1916, and of my family’s long journey to discover what really happened to him. It’s a story about war, shell shock, military justice, family secrets and, ultimately, remembrance.
This week I also had the opportunity to talk about Ted, the book and the story behind it on BBC Three Counties Radio. It was lovely to have the chance to share a little of the journey and explain why, more than 110 years after Ted’s death, his story still matters.
And if you’re coming to Milton Keynes Literature Festival, I’d love to see you there. The book launch takes place on Saturday 26 September, and it feels like a very fitting moment to finally bring Ted’s story out from the archives and share it with readers.
