In 1983 my grandmother, Dorothea Teague, took part in a BBC documentary about the soldiers who had been Shot at Dawn.
She had discovered just the year before that a cousin of her fathers had been shot for 'stealing the rum ration'. Her father told her a few months before he died about this cousin 'Ted', up to then he had never mentioned him - not even to his wife of over 50 years.
I recently watched the documentary as part of my research in to Ted' story which will be the focus of the next SynJon book and I was shocked at the bluntness of the story; the graphic nature of the images shown and the fact that at this time the key files and documents were still embargoed by the government.
She was interviewed by Bernard Faulk, pictured here with my grandmother.

The book will be released in 2026 - to mark the 20th anniversary of the pardons that were granted in 2006 after a long campaign.
